Hi people, tomorrow I'm going to attempt to build a bird feeding station from an old wooden bed I have.
Hopefully it won't go to wrong as it is my first attempt at building one. I will be uploading pictures tomorrow, so check back to see how good(bad) it is.

WOODPECKER HUNTING
I decided today to go and look for the woodpecker I saw the other day, but the weather had other ideas.
I was walking around the lake for 4 hours in the rain and didn't even hear or see a woodpecker, but I did get some photos of some more birds I can add to my list.

MOORHEN |
COOT |
GREY HERON |
So above are 3 that can be added to my list and here are 2 that I won't be adding to the list but I thought were nice.
BLACK SWAN |
Although I was beaten by the woodpecker toady, I still managed to add some birds to my list so I consider to a success and I will be out again looking for the woodpecker another day.
So please follow me as I try to capture 400 different species of birds in the UK.

So, today I took my son down the my local lake and like an idiot I forgot to pick up my camera on the way out.
As we were walking around the lake, my son who is nearly 3, kept pointing out all the birds that were flying around and I was very reluctant to look as I knew I didn't have my camera with me.
So we went to the bridge to feed the ducks the loaf of bread we had for them and as we were feeding them a black swan swam out from under the bridge. As you can imagine I was not happy as I have only seen this swan a handful of times and this time I didn't have my camera.
We continued our walk after feeding the ducks and the black swan, and my son was stilling telling me about the birds, so I decided I would sit down with my son and start teaching him all the different names of the birds.
Then as we were talking about all the different birds, I heard a familiar Knocking sound and as I looked up into the tree I spotted a woodpecker climbing a branch about 20 feet above me.
At that moment I stood up and left the spot we were sitting in and made our way home very disappointed at the fact I had gone to a lake and woodland without my camera and missed opportunities to record some very nice birds.
Today may have been a failure in terms of capturing more birds on camera, but at least I know I don't have to look to far for these birds and in the search for these birds I could capture some more birds needed for my list.
MAIN LESSON I HAVE LEARNED, DON'T GO OUT WITHOUT MY CAMERA.
